Methods for the controlled formation of luminescent centers in nanodiamonds synthesized by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and at high pressures and high temperatures (HPHT) have been developed. The spectral characteristics of single centers at room and cryogenic temperatures are determined.

It was found that nanodiamonds synthesized from adamantane exhibit the narrowest Fourier-limited line width of optical transitions of single SiV centers at cryogenic temperatures among the known SiV-containing nanodiamonds.

For the first time luminescent properties of single SiV centers are studied in small (<100 nm) CVD synthesized diamond particles using non-resonant and resonant excitations in the cryogenic environment. The typical SiV linewidth of ~1 GHz is found for spontaneously nucleated nanodiamonds.

Luminescence of SiV centers was detected in nanodiamonds extracted from meteorites.

It is established that stable luminescent SiV centers can exist in quasi-molecular nanodiamonds (1.5 nm in size, only 400 carbon atoms!).

To study the morphology and luminescent properties of nanodiamonds, an experimental setup was created that combines an atomic force microscope with a confocal luminescent microscope and a Hanbury-Brown-Twiss interferometer.

In order to increase the rate of spontaneous emission of single NV- and SiV-centers in nanodiamonds, a semi-spherical Fabry-Perot microcavity was assembled.

By changing the distance between the cavity mirrors, we achieve the optimal position of the cavity mode relative to the diamond nanocrystal located on a flat mirror.

A new nanostructure has been created - a luminescent nanodiamond coated with porous silicon oxide for use as a multifunctional platform in nanomedicine.

Targeted delivery of the drug to the cancer cell using composite nanoparticles was performed.

The temperature sensitivity of the spectral characteristics of radiation from a number of centers (Ne8, SiV, GeV) in diamond is studied and the prospects for their use as nanothermometers are shown.

The absolute temperature sensitivity (S_a) of an optical temperature sensor based on a thermally induced line shift of 794 nm of the Ne8 center and its temperature resolution (ΔT) are determined.
